- Overnight 1st June – vehicle parked in Storrington Way – window broken and searched
- Overnight 1st June – vehicle parked in Baron Court – window broken and vehicle searched – golf clubs and sunglasses stolen
- Overnight 2nd June – vehicle parked in Hall Lane, Werrington – window broken glovebox searched and other items moved around
Commenting, local LIB DEM ward councillor Darren Fower said:
“Police have asked that neighbours keep an eye out and report any suspicious activity to the police that they see. Sadly, from my experience, vehicle crime often occurs in sporadic short periods in order to evade arrest and ensure a maximum return on their criminal activity.
“Whilst car ownership increases year on year and the levels of poverty in Peterborough continue to grow, I expect vehicle crime to maintain its position as one of the leading crimes in the city. My advice is do not keep anything in your car, no matter how short a period it’s for, that you cannot afford to have or would not want stolen.”
* Cllr Darren Fower has also asked us to note that Vehicle Crime is a very speedy action and therefore he believes that the police need to be armed with the tools to capture data and respond. This is why Darren believes that officers should be provided with smart phones and Twitter accounts.
