Should we have MORE bins in this area? @EnterprisePboro

Bins

Q: Do you think there are enough or too few bins where you live? VOTE NOW!

Commenting, Cllr Darren Fower, said:

“When I grew up in this area, the City Council used to employ chaps to clean up the local area each day and I can remember seeing bins on many street corners.

“Over the last 15 years though, I’ve started to notice more and more occasions, when damaged bins have not been replaced and local people expected to therefore carry around their rubbish, rather than being provided with a basic service.

“I believe that the City Council, should be looking at innovative ways to ensure that there is at least one general waste bin for every two hundred metres, and a service that ensures these are emptied on a weekly basis.”

Have YOU taken the Resident Survey 2014 yet???? @PeterboroughTel

ResidentSurvey

The Resident Survey 2014 is well underway, with responses being received on-line and also on the door step as local LIB DEM councillors and activists spend their weekends finding out what people think of their area and the services provided by the City Council.

Local LIB DEM ward councillor Darren Fower said:

“It’s always an enjoyable exercise! Getting peoples opinion and thoughts is imperative to true local democracy. As an opposition councillor, I often hear the Tory controlled City Council telling me what people in the city think, I myself prefer to ask them!

“The on-line survey is a real bonus as it allows residents to fill in the form either from the comfort of their own home or via their mobile. Plus, it take just a few seconds to complete!”

What issue do YOU think we should be fighting the next local elections on?

Resident

Local LIB DEM ward councillor, Darren Fower is asking local residents to submit their policy ideas ahead of this years local elections!

For the FIRST TIME EVER, Peterborough Liberal Democrats have launched an online campaign, which which allows anyone, no matter whether they are a Lib Dem FOCUS Team supporters, or Labour or Tory, the chance to put forward an idea that they feel would benefit their local community or improve the services of the City Council.

All submissions will be securely passed to the local Liberal Democrat Executive, who over the coming weeks will be planning their manifesto for the local elections at the end of May 2014.

Commenting, Darren said:

“In order to represent people, elected members must ensure that they have a grasp of opinion. As local Lib Dems, both Cllr Davidson and myself hold ward surgeries twice a month, produce regular FOCUS newsletters, undertake ward walk abouts and of course communicate through several other channels. That said, we always want to make it as easy as possible for anyone to share their thoughts and ideas with us.

“Therefore, I would urge any resident, who has a thought, no matter how small or large, complicated or simply, should spend a few seconds filling out the form and pressing the submit button!”

Does #StorringtonWay need traffic calming measures? @PboroCops?

photo

Local LIB DEM ward councillor, Darren Fower, says he’s been contacted by a handful of local residents who’ve complained about a range of parking and speeding problems, along Storrington Way, The Steynings and Amberley Slope.

According to one of the residents:

“When I am in my wheelchair, I very often have to go out on the road, which is dangerous as the view of cars impedes seeing traffic. “

Commenting, Darren said:

“I am aware of problematic parking during school times along Amberley Slope, and have previously requested that the City Council make use of their car with a camera to enforce illegal or inconsiderate parking.

“I have always thought that The Steynings and Storrington Way, were fairly quiet stretches of road? However, it seems there may be times when this is not the case? As both these areas are built up, I would be keen to hear from others living along this stretch to see what their thoughts are and perhaps we can look at arranging for the police to pay a visit or undertake a speed survey of the area?”

Aster Drive development underway and welcome!

1511244_411030752333971_1818137480_n

Local LIB DEM ward councillor, Darren Fower, says he is glad that work is finally underway on the previously vacant site on Aster Drive!

Commenting, Darren said:

“It’s been several years since the planning application got permission, when we managed to get the the City Council to agree to adopt the road, and so its good to finally see some development starting.

“That said, I remain concerned that the final properties will not be affordable to local people, which if this ends up being the case means that the shortage of available properties in this area, will not be helped and therefore this project will end up simply being a money making exercise and a missed opportunity to help some young families or individuals locally.”

Cllr Darren Fower has paid several site visits over the last few weeks speaking with local residents and also some of the guys working on the site.

Darren says that there is no deadline for when the work will be completed, with one worker saying that the “….all the road and drainage is in ….” and that they “….think the guy who owns the land is waiting to sell one or two …” before further work is carried out on the rest of the footings.

One of the companies working on the site are AAC Groundworks.
