City Councillors get a 96% Parking Permit discount

Some Peterborough city councillors are using their parking allowance to park for free when they are not on council business, it has been claimed. (Article)

Just for the record ❗️ .... I handed back my car parking pass 🅿️ about 10 years ago, when they were totally FREE for councillors.... Since then I have relied on my bike, buses or the occasional taxi to get to meetings.

➡️ Council staff who actually DO the real work, don't enjoy this perk❗️
➡️ Some councillors get paid an extra allowance (on top of their basic) of just under £1000 a meeting, so they can afford to pay they fair share❗️


🗣️ “The Tory leaders of the council are quite happy to cut £516,000 from youth services and cut back on funding to vital things like the Citizens Advice Bureau, but they want to keep their precious parking allowance that simply adds another £4,000 to the annual budget." - Cllr Ed Murphy

Tories CUT grant to local disability charity!

There are almost 11,300 people aged under 65 with a moderate or serious disability living in #Peterborough 🗝️
 ➡️ Of these 8,800 have a moderate disability and 2,500 have a serious physical disability.
 ➡️ About 5,150 people are thought to have a disability that means they require some sort of help with personal care.

PS - In 2014, the #ToriesAtTheTownHall 🕴️ cut the Physical Disability & Sensory Impairment Services budget by £150k a year!

We've been waiting decades for a University in Peterborough!

➡️ The Council still need to find £20 million 💷 for a new “signature building” at the Embankment it is proposing to set up a joint venture company.
➡️ The combined authority i.e. Elected Mayor and Peterborough City Council would have shares 📉 in the company, as well as private investors, with all parties able to make a PROFIT by leasing the university 📚 premises to the education provider.

Rail fares across the Greater Anglia network have gone up by an average of 2.6%

🗣️FYI #Peterborough train 🚆 users ......... 

➡️ Today’s average fare increase means ticket prices have risen by 40% 📈 since 2010. 

➡️ It shows that this government is not serious about supporting either public transport or tackling 🌏 climate change, road congestion and 🚗☁️ air quality.

😮 In contrast, rail fares in Germany were cut ✂️ by 10% yesterday. 

👍 Labour pledged to cut rail fares by 33% to encourage people to get out of their cars and get on the train.

🙈👉 “Following years of broken 🤥 promises and cuts to investment and services, passengers are once again paying more for less under the Tories.” 🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏼‍♀️

Walton Waste Bin - DESTROYED💥

👉 I've now formally requested 📝 that the City Council look to fix or replace the waste 🗑️ bin that's been destroyed, along the footpath, that runs behind Arundel Road, at the bridge junction for Brookside.

➡️ It's been like this for 🗓️ several weeks‼️

😢 Sadly, two parts of the bin are now in the nearby 🌊 stream and people are having to use the remanence of the general waste bin.
